The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants MLB Betting Preview

San Francisco Giants at Philadelphia Phillies (-215, 7.5)

NOTE: Tim Lincecum was scratched from his Tuesday start for the Giants with Barry Zito moving up a day for that game. San Francisco's starter for Wednesday is still undecided.

The San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies play the middle game of their 3-game series on ESPN Wednesday Night Baseball in what could be another NLCS preview.

Citizens Bank Park is the location and start time is 4:00 p.m. (PT). This will be a battle of lefties with Barry Zito versus Cole Hamels.

The Giants upset the Phils last year in the NLCS on the way to winning the World Series. The first meeting between the teams this year was Tuesday night (result pending). Giants’ ace Tim Lincecum was a rare +100 underdog against Vance Worley.

The Phillies (64-37) have all but wrapped up a playoff spot with the NL’s best record. They started this homestand with three wins over San Diego before losing (5-4) on Monday. They have MLB’s best home record (37-16) for +11.9 units, and haven’t lost a home series since early May.

Hamels (12-5, 2.62 ERA) had his worst start since early April right after the All-Star break, allowing seven earned runs over 4 1/3 innings at the Mets (11-2 loss). He rebounded last Friday at home versus San Diego, one run and three hits over eight innings in a 3-1 win.

The 27-year-old was named an All-Star and is tied with teammate Roy Halladay and Atlanta’s Jair Jurrjens for the NL win lead. His OPS allowed (.565) is second in the league behind the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw (.560).

Hamels has a 2.29 ERA at home, with Philadelphia going 8-4. He faced the Giants in Game 3 of the NLCS last year, surrendering three runs (two earned) over six innings and getting out-dueled by Matt Cain (3-0 road loss).

Hamels’ lifetime regular season record against San Fran is 4-2 with a 4.67 ERA in eight starts. The Giants are 17-6 in their last 23 road games against a left-handed starter.

San Francisco (59-43) is also in good shape for a playoff berth with a four-game lead over Arizona in the NL West. The Giants got a day off on Monday after starting 7-3 since the break.

Zito (3-2, 4.78 ERA) had three starts in April (6.23 ERA) before going on the DL with a foot injury. He returned in late June and surprised everyone by winning three straight games (1.29 ERA). Giants’ fans finally thought Zito may start earning his big paycheck.

The 33-year-old came crashing back to Earth on July 16 at San Diego. He surrendered eight earned runs over 3 2/3 innings in an 11-3 loss. The outing was so bad that he had his start skipped and will be working on 10 days rest.

Zito has only three lifetime starts in Philadelphia, having spent the first seven years of his career in the AL. He surrendered four earned runs over five innings in a 9-3 loss at Citizens Bank last year.

Philadelphia is 10-2 in its last 12 home games versus a left-handed starter.

The Giants are just 27-25 on the road this year (+1.9 units), compared to 32-18 at home (+8.9 units). However, they’re 5-2 in their last seven away.

The ‘over’ is 6-0 in San Francisco’s last six road games. The ‘over’ is 4-1 in Philly’s last five home games.

San Fran took two of three in Philly in the playoffs last year, but is 5-17 in the last 22 in the regular season there.

Philadelphia has Placido Polanco (back) on the disabled list. The Giants have Miguel Tejada (abdominal) and Pat Burrell (foot) on the DL, with Buster Posey and Freddy Sanchez already out for the year.

Weather should be clear and warm in the 80s. The pitching matchup for Thursday’s finale is Cain against Kyle Kendrick.

Wednesday's Streaking And Slumping Starting Pitchers

STREAKING

Colby Lewis, Texas Rangers (10-7, 3.93 ERA)

Lewis threw six no-hit innings against the Toronto Blue Jays the last time he took the ball and ended up with a 12-2 win under his belt. Texas has now won each of his last five starts and Lewis has allowed only a single earned run over his last 15 1/3 innings on the hill.

There is some concern about the number of dingers Lewis is giving up though. Lewis has served up 24 homers, three more than he allowed all of last season.

Ian Kennedy, Arizona Diamondbacks (11-3, 3.22 ERA)

Kennedy is coming off a seven-inning shutout of the Milwaukee Brewers and has now strung together three straight wins after a terrible start in Oakland earlier this month.

That latest win moved Kennedy into a tie for second in the NL with 11 wins and to 10th in MLB money standings at just under seven units of profit for his supporters.

SLUMPING

Bronson Arroyo, Cincinnati Reds (7-8, 5.56 ERA)

Just like clockwork, Bronson Arroyo shows up in the Slumping section every five days. That’s what happens when you have allowed 29 homers already this season – the same number of jacks he gave up all of last season.

After giving up three homers in a 6-4 loss to Atlanta, Arroyo told reporters “that was some of the worst execution of my entire career.”

Ricky Romero, Toronto Blue Jays (7-9, 3.27 ERA)

Romero hasn’t won in almost a full month and is working on a fat 7.02 ERA over his last three starts.

The good news is that he’s still sitting down a ton of batters and struck out nine in his latest loss to Seattle. If he can cut down on his walks (14 in his last four starts) he might be able to get back on track.

HOT LINES

Wednesday's Best MLB Bets

Tampa Bay Rays at Oakland Athletics (+110, 6.5)

On the bright side, it can only get better for Trevor Cahill after his last trip to the mound.

Cahill suffered through a career-worst performance, allowing 10 earned runs on nine hits in just two innings of work.

"It's kind of embarrassing," Cahill told reporters after the 17-7 loss to the Yankees. "You feel like you let your team down when you can't go past two innings, especially when they show early that they're going put some runs on the board for you."

It was obviously a terrible night for the big right-hander, who had lasted at least seven innings in four of his last six outings, but the A’s have won just two of his last 14 starts.

Meanwhile, the Rays have won seven of James Shields’ last 10 starts on the road and need a big win in this one.

PICK: Tampa Bay

Pittsburgh Pirates at Atlanta Braves (-200, 7)

The Braves have won each of Jair Jurrjens’ last six trips to the hill, but he has had some problems lately. He gave up three homers in a 6-4 win over Cincinnati last week after allowing six earned runs over five innings in a victory over Washington.

This latest skid comes after he put together a great stretch that saw him allow only three runs over four starts and that’s not to mention the looming trade deadline. There are a few whispers floating around that the Braves may look to move him in exchange for a big bat, but that seems a bit rash.

While we’re expecting Jurrjens to bounce back in a big way, there’s no way we’re laying down -200 against this plucky Bucs squad. We’ll take a shot at the under.

PICK: Under

Wednesday’s Betting Tips: Flu Hits SF’s Rotation

Who’s Hot

MLB: The Los Angeles Angels are 19-9 in the last 28 games.

MLB: Texas had won 10 of its last 11 home games heading into Tuesday’s action.

Who’s Not

MLB: The under is 3-14 in the last 17 meetings between the Rockies and Dodgers.

MLB: Houston is 1-7 in its last eight matchups with St. Louis.

Key Stat

9.78 – Jair Jurrjens sits second to Roy Halladay in MLB money standings, earning 9.78 units for his supporters while guiding the Atlanta Braves to 14 wins in 18 starts. The Braves are set as -200 favorites in Wednesday’s game against Pittsburgh with Jurrjens coming off a pair of tough starts.

Injury That Shouldn’t Be Overlooked

Jose Bautista, Toronto Blue Jays – Bautista left Tuesday night’s game in the third inning after being beaned and didn’t return. He was able to walk off the field after getting hit, but his status probably won’t be known until he undergoes concussion tests. Bautista is hitting .330 with 31 home runs and 70 RBIs.

Game Of The Day

Los Angeles Angels at Cleveland Indians (-105, 8)

Notable Quotable

“I honesty like Carson Palmer. He was a splendid player for us. He is a good person. I wish him well and he has retired. That is his choice. I’m not expecting him to be back. Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment. He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it.” – Cincinnati Bengals GM Mike Brown on the status of now former starting quarterback Carson Palmer.

Tips And Notes

As The MGM Mirage was the first Vegas or online sportsbook to release NFL season win totals and they’re already seeing some serious action. Jay Rood, MGM Mirage’s Director of Race and Sports, told Covers.com on Tuesday evening that his shop is taking money on Cincinnati under 7 (-135), Washington under 6.5 (-135), Chicago under 9.5 (-145) and Seattle under (-160).

Tim Lincecum was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday due to a stomach virus, leaving San Francisco’s rotation up in the air for Wednesday’s game and the remainder of the week. Barry Zito moved up a day to take the ball Tuesday and while the Giants hope Lincecum will be able to go Wednesday, that has yet to be confirmed.

Hondo

Suddenly sizzling Hondo, who swept Monday, brought out his broom again last night as he cleaned up with the Angels and Twins to do another big number on the dirty digits, which are down to 1,275 powells. And once again, he is would like to offer heartfelt apologies to the Reverse Hondo Brigade.

Tonight, Mr. Aitch says Simon has a chance against the Jays -- 20 units on the Orioles. Also, he expects the one and only Jimmy Shields to turn in a finely tuned and noteworthy performance -- 20 units on the Rays over the A's.

MLB (951) FLORIDA MARLINS at (952) WASHINGTON NATIONALS
Take: (951) FLORIDA MARLINS

The Florida Marlins had a very rough patch last week where they were swept at home by the Padres. However, since then the Marlins have rattled off three straight wins, including a 11-2 blasting of the Nationals on Tuesday. The win was the sixth in the last 10 for the Marlins while the Nationals lost for the seventh time in 10 games. Right now the battle for last place in the NL East is between these teams and while both are actually close to .500, they trail the Phillies by 15 1/5 and 16 respectively. The Marlins have dominated the Nationals, winning nine of the last 10 in Washington. Javier Vazquez will try and rebound from his bad outing last time where he allowed five runs over 4 1/3 innings. Vazquez will face a struggling Nats offense that has lost five of their last six games while batting just .211. Livan Hernandez will try and slow down the Marlins. Hernandez is 5-9 with a 4.04 ERA and now must face a Marlins squad that has outscored opponents by 32 runs in their last eight games. I like the Marlins here, they are hot, hitting and have a hungry pitcher on the mound tonight.

Wednesday Bonus Play is the Pirates

Matt Fargo Comp

The Braves got away with one last night on a blown call in the 19th inning to even the series against the Pirates. Things should not be as close tonight. Jair Jurrjens takes the hill for Atlanta and he is in prime bounce back mode following back-to-back poor outings. He allowed 10 runs in 11 innings in those games but despite that, the Braves pulled out wins in both. He is now 12-3 with a 2.44 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through 18 starts with Atlanta going 14-4 in those games. The Braves are 8-1 in his nine home starts as well. Paul Maholm gets the ball for Pittsburgh and he is having a sensational season so far. He has a 3.26 ERA through 21 starts but the Pirates are only 7-14 in those games. They are 6-6 in his 12 home starts where he has posted a 2.37 ERA and 1.17 WHIP but the road has been a different story as they are 1-8 in nine starts with Maholm putting up a 4.45 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Pittsburgh is averaging only 3.3 rpg in his road outings and it is 2-11 in his last 13 starts against National League East opponents. 3* (956) Atlanta Braves

Marc Lawrence Comp
Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers
Prediction: Milwaukee Brewers

When Zach Greinke matches serves with Carlos Zambrano in the middle of this three-game set at Miller Park Wednesday evening Greinke will take the mound knowing he is in terrific KW form with six walks and 34 strikeouts in his last four starts. On the other side of the coin, Zambrano enters in lousy current form sporting a 7.75 ERA in his last three starts. In addition, Zambrano has dropped four of his last six road starts, while compiling a 5.05 ERA along the way. Look for Greinke to avenge a 12-7 loss he suffered against the Cubs six weeks ago at Wrigley Field here tonight. We recommend a 1-unit play on Milwaukee.

Jack Jones Comp
Washington Nationals -111

Livan Hernandez has been a completely different pitcher at home than he's been on the road. Hernandez throws like and Ace in Washington, going 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA and 1.119 WHIP in 10 home starts this year. Javier Vazquez used to be an Ace, but he's clearly washed up. Vazquez is 6-9 with a 5.52 ERA and 1.486 WHIP in 20 starts in 2011. The Nationals have a huge edge on the mound tonight, yet they are only a -111 home favorite. We are getting great value here.

Vazquez is 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA in four career starts against Washington, while Hernandez is 13-12 with a 3.62 ERA in 34 career starts against Florida. In his lone start against Washington this season, Vazquez gave up 6 earned runs in 4 innings of a 4-8 loss to the Nationals on 5/15. In his last start against Florida, Hernandez gave up 1 earned run in 7 innings of a 1-0 loss to the Marlins on 5/14. The Nationals are 15-7 in their last 22 games as a home favorite. The Marlins are 11-24 in their last 35 games vs. a right-handed starter. Take Washington Wednesday.

Bonus Play

Mets vs. Reds
Play: Over 9½

The Mets Bobby Pelfrey hasn't been missing many bats with his 5.29 ERA over his last three starts. The NYM is 15-4 to the high in L19 as a RD of 25-50 cents. Bronson Arroyo is 1-2 with a 7.36 ERA over his L5 starts and the Reds 12-5 to the over as HFs at this price. Play the over and don't blink.

EZWINNERS COMP
Texas Rangers -200

The Twins starting pitcher Brian Duensing tied a season high with seven strikeouts in his last start, but that was about the only positive note about his outing against the Tigers on Friday. The left-hander ended up allowing seven runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings to take the loss. Duensing has not fared well against the Rangers in his short career posting a 1-3 record and he will not have much margin for error in this game as the Rangers send the red hot Colby Lewis to the mound. Lewis is 5-0 with an ERA of 2.22 in his last seven starts and Texas should be able to provide him with some solid run support. The Twins are just 2-8 in Duensing's last ten road starts against a team with a winning record and I don't expect those numbers to improve in this game. Play on Texas.

Florida +103 over WASHINGTON Pinnacle
The Nats have lost three in a row and five of six and they always lose to the Marlins. With Jordan Zimmerman pitching yesterday they were smoked to the tune of 11-2 and they’ve now lost 47 of the last 65 games against the Fish. It gets better. The Nationals strike out more often than every team in the majors with the exception of San Diego and that bodes well here for Javier Vazquez. Vazquez has increased his average fastball velocity by two MPH over the last two months--more than any other SP--by using his lower body more. He has been excellent over the last month with 28 k’s in 31 innings, four walks and a 2.87 ERA (3.21 xERA). Washington has lost Livan Hernandez’s last four starts. Hernandez has allowed 16 runs over that span covering 22 innings. They’ve also lost 12 of his last 15 starts. Most recently, we’ve seen a big correction and a deserved correction in Hernandez’s road numbers. At home, however, he’s 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA. That’s good news because he’s the same pitcher with below average skills that is going to see a correction in his numbers at home. Additionally, the Marlins are warming up again with three straight wins in which they’ve scored 24 runs. After an abysmal June, Florida’s bats have really picked it up lately. The Marlins’ .624 OPS last month was last in the NL by more than 50 points. This month, their .764 OPS is third in the Senior Circuit and they also led the league in walks over that same span. Wrong side favored. Play: Florida +103 (Risking 2 units).

Pittsburgh +160 over ATLANTA Pinnacle
The Braves pulled one out in 19 innings last night and after losing the opener 3-0 they won’t mind a bit seeing the Pirates leave town. Paul Maholm faces a Braves squad that owns the worst line (.211 BA/.284 OPS/.341 SLG) against southpaws in the majors. In five career starts versus Atlanta, Maholm is 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA covering 33 frames. At this price and against this lineup v lefties, he and the Buccos are way undervalued. Jair Jurrjens has lost one MPH on his fastball over the last month and that might explain his last two starts in which he was shelled for 10 runs over 11 innings. If he can't sustain a 90 MPH fastball, he will have little room for error, especially once his 27% hit rate and 80% strand rate correct a bit. Remember, leg issues (hamstring, torn meniscus) sidelined him for May, June and most of September last season and fatigue and pain could be playing a part in his recent struggles. Good sell high target. Play: Pittsburgh +160 (Risking 2 units).

MILWAUKEE –1½ +141 over Chicago Pinnacle
Zack Greinke hasn’t won since June 21 and that alone is crazy. Greinke also has a 4.84 ERA and that, too, is a number that is completely unjust, as Greinke still possesses the same skills as when he was dominating AL batters. Greinke’s 4.84 ERA is 100% bad luck. His skills are absolutely stellar with a 2.53 xERA, 114 k’s in 87 innings, 18 walks, and 180 BPV** (for esplanation of BPV see bottom of these write-ups). These are elite skills; it's only his ridiculous 37%/56% hit%/strand% that are holding him back. Over his last three starts, Grienke has posted an ERA of 1.89 and he should dominate this line-up. Carlos Zambrano is a pitcher in trouble. He was whacked for eight runs by the Fish two starts back and in his last start his two earned runs allowed against the Astros was a complete mirage. Houston loaded the bases with no outs in both the first and second innings and scored once. He was in jams all game long and squeezed out of them by the hair on his chinny-chin–chin. Zambrano has faced the Brewers twice already this year and he has a 6.75 ERA over those two starts. That’s when he was pitching a whole lot better than he is now and the Crew are so much better at home. Play: Milwaukee –1½ +141 (Risking 2 units).

Kansas City +187 over BOSTON Pinnacle
Kansas City +180 over BOSTON (1st 5 innings) Pinnacle
Every fifth day John Lackey gets spanked and there’s no reason to believe that’ll change here. Lackey has five quality starts in 16 attempts and two of them came against the Mariners. Lackey has more wins than Zack Greinke and that’s only because the Red Sox come to the park knowing they have to score about 10 runs when this stiff pitches. At Fenway, Lackey has an ERA of 7.68 and while the Royals lose a lot of games, they’re still dangerous because they can score runs. You might see Lackey’s 1.89 ERA over his last three starts and believe he’s returning to good form. Don’t buy it because it was all luck, as he allowed 18 hits in 12 innings against the M’s and Rays and was a base hit away from being yanked on numerous occasions. Lackey has been running on fumes, luck and run support all season long and this take-back against him is a must play. Bruce Chen is 5-3 with a 3.30 ERA. In his last four starts over the past month his ERA is 2.16. Last year Chen went 12-7 with a 4.17 ERA in 140 IP. 12 wins in 23 games started, while rest of KC’s starters won 35 in 139 games started. So, Chen = '72 Steve Carlton? Not exactly but he wins games and he’s consistent and in 100 games versus John Lackey at this price we would back Chen 100 times. Play: Kansas City in the first five innings +187 (Risking 1 unit). Play: Kansas City +180 (Risking 1 unit).
